Ugyanis James Joyce leghíresebb regényének cselekménye az Ulysses ezen a napon, 1904. június 16.-án játszódik, és olyan formán van kötődése Szombathelyhez és a Fő tér 40-41. alatti Bloom házhoz, hogy a regény főszereplője az amúgy Dublinban élő Leopold Bloom (Virág Lipót) ebben a házban látta meg a napvilágot.
 The statue of Szombathely was unveiled in 2004, in a stylish style on June 16th. For the plot of James Joyce's most famous novel, Ulysses, takes place on this day, June 16, 1904, and has a form of attachment to Szombathely and Main Square 40-41. below, that the protagonist of the novel, Leopold Bloom (Flower Lipot), who lives in Dublin, was born in this house.

Joyce an Irish novelist, short story writer, poet, teacher, and literary critic. He contributed to the modernist avant-garde and is regarded as one of the most influential and important authors of the 20th century. Joyce is best known for Ulysses (1922), a landmark work in which the episodes of Homer's Odyssey are paralleled in a variety of literary styles, most famously stream of consciousness.
