This is the site of the medieval village called Foldvar in the border of the village called Majs. It was discovered by Lajos Negyesi on the basis of the the work made by Jozsef Szucs and Bela Kiss (later on), who were local historians. This is the venue of the crucial phase of the Mohacs battle fought on 29th of August, 1526. The attack of the Hungarian cavalry stopped here and also the Hungarian infantry got stuck in the gun fire of the janissaries. Majs (H).
Szűcs József majd később Kiss Béla helytörténésznek nyomán Négyesi Lajos által meglelt középkori Földvár falu helyszíne Majs határában. Az 1526. augusztus 29-én megvívott mohácsi csatának Földváron volt a döntő mozzanata: itt állt meg a magyar lovasság rohama és akadt el a magyar gyalogság is a janicsárok puskatüzében. Majs (H).
