Apci tengerszem, Régi andezitbánya

The Apci Sea Eye, also known as the Széleskő Mine, is located at the southern foot of the Mátra, in the valley of the Zagyva River in the northeastern part of Apc. The lake was created in the area of ​​the former andesite mine, which was owned by the St. Ivány family. Andesite was mined in the area from 1875 to the 1960s, but the mine has not been in operation for more than 50 years. The average water depth of the lake is almost 5-10 meters, but at its deepest point it can be 25-30 meters deep, surrounded by magnificent 10-15 meter high rock walls. The mining lake and the surrounding forests were classified in 1995 as a nature reserve of local importance. You can also walk around the sea on a more difficult road along the rocks. In the immediate vicinity it is possible to camp and swim. The sea eye is located on the outskirts of the settlement, next to the main road 21. In the village we reach a Y-junction, where we have to leave the settlement on the left, and finally the road reaches a cross on a stone foot. Here you have to turn right onto the dirt road that leads to the car park. Starting from here and going up the hill, we have to turn right, and then the mine is a few minutes away. In dry weather, the sea can be reached by car.

The place itself is beautiful. Unfortunately with quite a bit of rubbish in the area, there are plenty of cigarette butts and soft drink and beverage bottles. It could be good for the place if it had a "master".
