A Mindenszentek tiszteletére épített templom pontos fenntartóiról, illetve történetéről csak részleges információk állnak rendelkezésre. A település híres várának felépítése után a XIV—XV. században, a régi község elnéptelenedett és lakosai a Várhegy alatti részre költöztek. A hátramaradt templom a körülötte levő elhagyott falu romos életét élte a továbbiakban. A törökök kiüzése után sem építették újra, annak köveit részben a falu házainak építéséhez hordták el.
