Béke sztúpa - Zalaszántó

Anyone who goes for it and wants to look around a bit should come in. The place is also the sealing place of the blue tour. It is quite accessible by car, but it is 1 km from the car park below, which can be done with a pleasant walk - even if the road is not icy.

I have visited here several times, I always left with positive experiences. You may want to leave your car in the car park below and take a 15-20 minute walk through the woods and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The stupa and its surroundings are beautifully maintained. There are several gift shops, one for delicious Tibetan and masala chai tea.

In Zalaszántó, on the 316 m high Világosvári hill above the village, surrounded by colorful prayer flags and shrouded in the scent of exotic incense, the dazzlingly snow-white Buddhist shrine, 30 m high and 24 m in diameter, towers. The stupa is surrounded by a circular stepped pedestal that serves as a ritual detour. As a sign of respect, we must walk around with the stupa to our right. Inside, the teachings of the Buddha, the only original Buddha relics and a 24-meter-high tree of life have been erected in Europe, and there is a Buddha statue from South Korea in the center of the shrine. There is no access to the inside of the sanctuary, it is a closed structure, it is guarded by two monks. The construction of the stupa was decided in 1990 by a South Korean Buddhist monk, Bop Jon (originally known as Jin Su). It was built between March and September 1992 and dedicated on June 17, 1993 by Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama’s exiled religious leader in Tibet. The access road to the stupa is after the end of the village towards Sümeg towards the mountain. Signs along the road indicate where to turn in the direction of the stupa. An additional 500 m walk from the car park on a steep flight of stairs. For those who love the shrines of the East, the place offers an unforgettable experience, but due to its spirituality and peculiar microclimate, it is recommended for everyone to meditate and relax for a few minutes.

Very spectacular building. It had a special atmosphere for us. It can also be reached by car, but we preferred to walk up the paved path from the parking lot below (300 m). We didn't regret it! By the time you get up you can calm down if you look inside. We did not go into the prayer room because we did not want to disturb the meditators. It is free to visit.

Even during the reconstruction, the atmosphere of the place is wonderful. If we leave the car at the access road below, it is a slightly longer hike, uphill, but easy to walk on a gravel road. It is also possible to reach the car park above by car, although it is a bit difficult to start the car on the gravel layer.

I’ve been here several times, now I’m going up again and I haven’t even regretted it. I had been renovating, building, and long ago when the prayer room was in the valley. Some things have changed since then. Appropriately at the entrance, I grabbed an incense burner and walked around the space with it until I reached the container placed at the Buddha’s feet and stabbed it there. I spun the prayer mills upstairs. I’m glad the prayer room is already up here, I went in and spent maybe half an hour in the pleasant cool with the sage present, deep in thought. If I’m lucky, no one bothers and it seems others don’t care so much about this thing. But it wouldn’t even be fair to visit this place with a noisy team. It was sad that one of the two shoehorns at the shoe store was broken, the other was roughly bent to unusability. Who does this who comes up to such a holy place ?? Mentally bathed a little in the silence, I ended up buying myself a windbreaker. that is, the longest prayer flag, henceforth it will fly in my garden.

Guided by a sudden thought, we went upstairs. One thing's for sure. Another world! Kulon is sympathetic to the fact that there are no parking tickets as in many places where the only service is to collect the parking fee. If anyone is doing this, this is a program !!!
