Bock Bisztró - Bock Bisztró

Absolutely astonished by the quality of the cooking. We had a chicken pancake as a starter, Hungarian beef sirloin and stuffed chicken as main course, and an excellent Hungarian merlot: Enigma (surprisingly excellent). I'd recommend the place anytime.

As per other reviews, if you are planning a trip, book way in advance to avoid disappointment. We got lucky with a same day early dinner on a Wednesday. First of all I would like to commend Molnár Gergely who was an excellent waiter throughout our dinner service. Fresh bread here is served with smoky Mangaliza Lard. We decided to go for soup starters (esp the fish soup as it had been one of the traditional Hungarian dishes I'd yet to try). It was fantastically rich in flavour but yet well balanced and came with 2 dumplings. For mains we had the Chicken Paprikash. This came with a creative twist of the bones being replaced by carrots on two drumsticks and also with a frog leg replacing the bone on another drumstick. This is a definite recommendation (beware of the green pepper as it does pack a real punch but I found the rich creamy gravy balanced this out). The other main was the Piked Perch Kárpáti style. This also came with a rich gravy (tasted close to a lobster bisque to me), balanced off with earthy mushroom duxelle and seared king trumpet mushroom. All in all a definite recommendation. There was unfortunately no space when we tried to book a 2nd visit before our departure but would come back if we had the opportunity.

The food was good with special combinations and presentations. The service was good. Take little bit cash with you for the tips. One minus was that we ordered fish-fillet but we got like 5-6 bones in the dish and we were not able to focus on the taste but taking the bone out.

Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish with the service, atmosphere, and food. This is my first authentic Hungarian food experience, and we were lucky to get a spot at a Michelin recommended restaurant. I can't recommend Bock Bisztro enough.

18.10.2019: Friendly reminder that cannot come here without reservation for dinner, they are always full so i tried their lunch menu instead and had a pleasant time too. Food tasted great and creative, i was being taken care by Zollel for the whole meal, i had hard time to pick either their regular 4 course meal or daily special and he gave me some suggestions which i end up had an memorable lunch in Budapest..

Very nice Bistro with very well made foods. The service is excellent and the ambiance very cozy. A very nice place to have a dinner. The food was pretty much all on point except maybe the dessert were a bit too sweet for our liking.

Wonderful! There was no food inquiry for our little children that they could not cook. Albsolutely delicious food and very very kind waiters! I highly recommend!

A very fancy but still down to earth restaurant. It puts a modern twist on Hungarian staple cuisine. We are very happy to try out this more exquisite restaurant. Even though the chicken Paprika „three surprises“ was one frog leg... I must say that the Gulasch was fantastic here and I tried multiple across Budapest.
