Just one thing to say: don't go there! We had a room full of bugs coming from behind the beds, the fridge and even from holes in the floor. When we told Alex (the hostel manager) he saw the message without answering and the following day he told us that it was a normal thing as "it is summertime". Shocking.

I have to say I have very mixted feelings about this place. The location of this hostel is truly excelect, in the very centre of Budapest with only a few minutes walk to the chain brigde and parliament. The rooms are nice, comfortable and clean, so are the bathrooms. Unfortunately the host, Alex is extremelly "over" everything. He has a camera watching the common area, wherever you look and go he materializes himself imidiately asking if you have any questions or telling you to keep this place clean and have respect for others and walking around cleaning all the time, even when we were making ourselves breakfast he started cleaning the floor. He urges you to walk barefoot and leave the shoes in the corridor, walking around and checking if people actually are not wearing their shoes. I think this is really unhygenic, he constantly kept telling us this is a hungarian thing to walk barefoot, but in my opinion when you run a bussiness in tourism you shouldn't force your beliefs and rules onto other people, beacuse you have guests coming in from all around the world, not just Hungary and you need to be more flexible you YOUR GUEST WISHES. Look out when you want to use the water from the sink, he'll show up and point at the rules to respect the planet and save water and light. He'll tell you to use the dishwasher constantly, even though the dishes coming out of it were not super clean and you just want to use a clean cup, which is not a crime. And most of all he is obssesed with quiet and respect. There was no information (and he made us sit and read the rules of the hostel outloud!) that you are forbidden to use the common area after certain hours, just the information about quiet hours. We understand that there are other people sleeping there, but do not exaggerate, sitting and quietly talking to one another at around midnight keept NO ONE awake. He came to the hostel three times that night and said NO WORD, then the last time he handled me the phone telling me someone from booking wants to speak with me and the lady said that she was asked by the host to inform us to leave the hostel immidiately! He kept babbling about respect all the time, how about he showed no respect when lying to the lady from booking. com that we are having a loud party and we are being noisy and drunk! He told her he did not want to call the police, so he called her. So childlish, we are grown up people and he acted ridiculous and idiotic by calling her instead of talking to us! We responded that we are happy to wait for the police because we were not doing anything wrong, were not noisy or drunk then he showed up told us to go to our rooms. He was very upset and we did not want to argue with him cause it seemed pointless. In the morning I knocked on every other room to nicely ask if they had problems with us sitting in the common area or if they heard anything, or if we were too lound and most of the people said they did not even know we were there, because they heard NOTHING!!! Alex I hope you'll read this and spend some time thinking about how you treated us, while talking about respect for others all the time. I've travelled all around the world, slept in so many different hotel and hostels I've lost count, but something like this NEVER happened to me in my entire life! We've never been this mistreated and disrespeted like in your hostel. Maybe you should put all your rules and sentences on your site so that people would know what to expect when coming to your hostel, but remember this is not a private housing you're running - it's a public place so you cannot treat people like they're children and you're the only one right. And the last thing I want to tell you - this is a thing my Mom taught me and I live my life having that in mind and heart - lying and walking around telling false things is a really disgusting thing.

Alex is an amazing dude. We immediately felt ourselves at home after 10 seconds. He welcomed us with lot of shots of hard alcohols like vodka or jagerbomb and gave us the entry code so that we don't have to come back all together at the same time in the flat. The thing Alex likes more is the shoes, he has an amazing collection of shoes in the entrance. Alex is always willing to help you and will ask you 10 times if you have any question. I enjoyed a lot the fact that Alex is cleaning at least 3 times a day the floor and we all appreciated that he slept in the living room on the sofa to be sure we are all doing well during our sleep.

Hotels will make you feel like at home. This place will give you a Hungarian experience. Don't know what you think but I think it's a good thing. The guy running the place recommended a lot of nearby places to check out, what better way to know where to go but from someone who has lived here for years.

In short: Clean and tidy, not expensive, great location, excellent internet. The host works really hard to keep the place clean and comfortable. He has some rules, such as not walking in your shoes inside the hostel, and I totally approve it. The hostel consists of one huge apartment with a living room (with kitchen) which is shared by all visitors. Thanks to the rule with shoes the visitors can walk in their slippers in the kitchen and in their rooms. Note that visitors are not allowed to bring others into the hostel. Indeed, the shared living room makes it comfortable, but if more visitors would bring their friends, and those friends bring their friends, it would become messy. Don't pay attention to those negative comments regarding the host. Simply, if you want to keep the place clean and tidy, those messy and careless ones would get to dislike you. Also, the internet is great. ONE TIP! We've stayed in rooms with private bathrooms. I would recommend the same to everybody, though I don't know how do the shared bathrooms look like. But, if you have any questions, you should contact the host/hostel, and ask him about it. For example, if there is another friend you would like to join him - ask Alex about it, maybe he was going to give a room with one extra bed anyway. (Of course, I suppose you would still need to pay for him some more money when you arrive, but there - that's what I regretted. One of our friends stayed elsewhere, and I'm pretty sure Alex would allow us to bring him as well, which would have been better than him paying his stay elsewhere.) While on your stay you can contact Alex on WhatsApp if needed, he gives his best to help.

The Location of this hostel is ideal for visiting Budapest as it is right in the city center. The impressive parliament building is just around the corner. You definitely get a lot for your money, take the time to listen to Alex' helpful advice for your Budapest stay. The bedrooms was clean, so was the bathroom. WiFi is available and free. The kitchen/living room is well equipped - for breakfast I can also raccomend some of the fancy places in the area.

Budapest Centrum Hostel was a great place to stay in Budapest. It is located in the middle of the city center with everything on walking distance, including public transportation. The rooms, bathroom facilities, kitchen and the hall were very clean. The hostel is renovated recently so everything is new. The rooms are functional and nice to stay in. The hostel is situated on the second floor and has an elevator. There is an in-room lockerbox and the common area's are equipped with a video monitoring system. The hostel has a fully equipped and clean kitchen. Free WiFi included. Alex, the owner and host of this hostel is very kind and offers a great service (and breakfast!). He knows everything about Budapest and can arrange tickets and discounts. He will arrange anything for his guests. Alex arranged a bigger (two-person) bed for our tall traveling companion and even bought a bigger fan against the warm nights. Alex offers washing facilities for a small fee and he makes a great breakfast! The Budapest Centrum Hostel is the best place to stay!
