The first data from the 15th century show that the Choron noble family who owned the area lived in a manor house, which was destroyed in 1514 by the insurgent crusaders of György Dózsa. The rebuilt dwelling house was fortified as expected due to the civil war conditions in the post-defeat battle of Mohács in 1526, ie it was surrounded by a strong stone wall, which was divided by a high watchtower and protected by a moat around it. The strength of its defense resistance is indicated by the fact that the cavalry riders of the giant sultan's armies, who went on the siege of the city of Vienna in 1532, could not run down, and there was not enough time for a regular siege. Devecser's fortress was also part of the border fortress system established by the military council, which tried to stop the invasions of the soldiers of the conquering Ottoman Empire into Hungarian and Austrian territories. However, as the rules of warfare with cannons were not built properly, they were not considered among the major border forts. In the spring of 1562, the knights of Devecser also took part in the recapture of the castle of Hegyesd, which was occupied by the Turks in the previous year. In 1583, through the marriage of Margaret Choron, it was acquired by the wealthy family of barons of Nádasdy, but since this was not their accommodation, they did not spend much on the crumbling border fortress. From 1626, first as a pledge and then as a permanent property, it became the property of the Esterházy noble family, so because of their unwavering loyalty to Habsburg, they were not blown up like so many redundant Hungarian fortifications. The building, which is of late Gothic but also has Renaissance influences, was renovated in 1790 in the late Baroque style according to the plans of R. Zillach, and in the 19th century in the eclectic style according to the plans of Adolf Voyta. In the 18th century, the nearby fishpond was rebuilt to a greater extent, partially deprived of its outer fortifications, drained and transformed into a Baroque castle garden. Today, the former Choron Castle houses the public library of the town of Devecser, in the halls of which you can admire the Renaissance door and window frames. (from Wiki) -Beauty is not always the property of ornate buildings. A captivating sight can also be achieved with a simple line drawing. A good example of this is the view of the Devecser castle. The softly sloping line can be observed at the gate of the castle, then entering the courtyard, we can also discover the undulating lines in the contrast of the angular line of the tower. If we go further in, to the right, we can see a well with a beautiful wrought iron ornament. The space is closed by a huge block of buildings that now functions as a library, the entrance to which opens from near the well. It is also worth visiting the buttress wall perforated with portholes on the west side of the castle wall and taking a walk in the garden in front of the tower building of the castle.

I suppose it will be renovated soon, the institutions inside it will have something up-to-date elsewhere, and the castle will be visited by tourists and everyone will be well off! ?
