Well maintained cemetery and since this year with new tombstones and monument will definitely come back for the mausoleum which I assume they are going to renovate

On August 2, 1849, one of the last battles of the War of Independence took place on the border of Debrecen. The dead of the fatal battle - 112 patriots and 634 Russian soldiers - were placed in a mass grave not in the denominational cemeteries, but in one of the gardens surrounding contemporary Debrecen, the Snail Garden. The Army Cemetery was not taken into permanent use later, but until 1917 the wounded on the battlefields of the First World War, who died in the military hospital in Debrecen, as well as in the II. Hungarian and German soldiers killed nearby during World War II. The memorial stone of the 48th Army was erected on March 15, 1885. The Mausoleum of Heroes was built in 1932 above the mass grave of 1849 with the donation of the citizens of Debrecen. The clinker brick building was designed by Jenő Lechner and Pál Szontágh, and was inaugurated on August 2, 1932 as part of a national ceremony. 16 meters high interior - where the Military History Museum I. and II. World War II exhibits can be viewed - illuminated by light entering through the double glazing that hides the dome's supporting structure. The cemetery is cared for by the 5th István Bocskai Rifle Brigade of the Hungarian Armed Forces and the German Military Grave Care Association.

It is a very beautifully arranged cemetery where our heroes rest their eternal sleep.
