Döröskei Szent Jakab templom - Döröske

In the village already in the XIII. There was a church in the 16th century (already mentioned in a charter in 1276), which was presumably built by the Döröskei family. The nationally protected monumental church is a single-nave, Romanian-style, semicircular sanctuary, a small church built of bricks. On the south façade there is an original lined Romanesque gate, above it a masonry porthole window, which was found during the 1992 research. The equipment of the XIX. neo-gothic from the end of the century. It began to decay in the Turkish era, suffered enormous damage, became almost ruined, and only in the 18th century. It was restored in the 16th century. In the XIX. century (1894) during another restoration, new windows were cut and a new entrance was established on the west facade. After archeological excavation and repair in 1992, it gained its present form, thanks to which it has largely retained its medieval, Árpádian features. A fortified residential tower was also built near the church. The church is located in the northern part of the village. The village is also affected by the Pál Rockenbauer South Transdanubia Blue Tour and the red Mária út sign. Approached from Molnaszecsőd, it can also be reached on an asphalt road running around, but immediately after the sign at the beginning of the settlement you can go up a hill on a dirt road, then through the courtyards of the houses to the cemetery where the church stands.
