Korának legfejlettebb kertészeti tudományával bővítette az üzemi termelési ismereteket. Kezdeményezte Budatétényben a Kertészeti Kutató Intézet kifejlesztését. A Kertészeti Egyetem a kertészeti és szőlészeti tudományok díszdoktora címet adományozta neki.

 Mátyás Mohácsy, born: Mahács (Békéscsaba, March 12, 1881 - Budapest, April 6, 1970) Kossuth Prize-winning (1949) orchard, university professor.
He expanded his factory production knowledge with the most advanced horticultural science of his time. He initiated the development of the Horticultural Research Institute in Budatétény. The University of Horticulture awarded him the title of Honorary Doctor of Horticulture and Viticulture.
