"A világháborús alkotások sorában jelentős a Tiszti hősi emlékmű, amit a Ludovika Akadémia állíttatott és a gyakorlótér melletti mesterséges dombon helyezték el. Az alkotás rövid leírásából: "Az egyszerű lépcsős fehér mészkő talapzaton életnagyságúnál nagyobb, honfoglalás kori álló harcos bronz szobra látható, jobb kezében kürttel, míg balját kettős kereszttel díszített pajzson nyugtatja. A mű mintázása összefogott, lényegre törő, csak ott részletező, ahol ezt az értelmezés kívánja. Megformálásában fontos szerepet kapott a bátorság és jövőbe tekintés megjelenítése, amit az éber oroszlán alakja megerősít."
