A 20. században pezsgő eszperantó élet folyt a városban, egy időben több eszperantista klub is működött. Pécs az egyedüli Európa kulturális fővárosai közül, amely az eszperantó nyelv népszerűsítésével is foglalkozott.
Esperanto Park was established in 1966 in Pécs was inaugurated on July 22, 1966 25th International Esperanto Youth Congress in his honor. In the 20th century, sparkling Esperanto life took place in the city, and at the same time several Esperantist clubs operated. Pécs is the only European Capitals of Culture to promote Esperanto.
