It fills me with sadness when I go to a cemetery. I am even sadder in this Jewish cemetery. Most of the tombs are neglected, on the verge of falling out. I understand that the relatives are dead, but where are the believers who would at least tidy up the tombs and sacrifice some money for maintenance regardless of whether the deceased was not a relative, just a fellow believer.

A cemetery of rich Hungarian Jewish heritage. Part of its charm lies in nature's decorative attempt to reabsorb the site as is evident by creeping lichen and tree vine covered grave stones and old mauseleums. Full of elegant artistic Hebrew inscription and symbolism, noticeable especially at the more recent interment plots. Space and time seem to dissolve into irrelevancy as one explores and absorbs the serene peace and stillness of this historic Budapest burial ground.
