Fonyód Kikötő

Fonyod is lovely, plenty of places to eat and drink in season. Lots for children to do around the lake, water park, parks, rides etc...

Great place! This is a very pretty harbour with a long jetty into the Balaton with a great view of the lake. There are also a number of restaurants and Hungarian fast food places (like langos) here. You can also hire a speed boat tour, a water taxi, or more likely get the ferry across to Badacsony to go on a Balaton wine tour.

Beautiful sights can be seen here, the people are kind and you can find all sorts of stuff in the nearby shops. There are a lot of restaurants where you can try all kinds of food made locally. There is also a huge beach, so it's a great option for families as a program for a day!

Looks like a pretty place but when I was there in early December, it was below zero and wicked windy so we didn't stay.

It's clean and nice but it's impossible to go to the toilet without paying even if you are having a meal in one of the restaurants. I cannot believe that they don't want to cover that amount themselves. Quite a shame.

Lots of cafeterias, diners, boutiques, there is a small amusement park, ferris wheel. Concerts in weekends. Vibrant place. Restroom is not in perfect condition, hard to find parking place in peak hours.

Update: I came back in June and this is a 5 star place. Lovely with excellent food, maintained lawn and it was super lively. This harbor is OK, maybe I should have visited it when most of the shops were open, probably in July, but for me it was a bit empty. Good news is that there is a direct ship line to Badacsony Harbor, which is on the other side of Lake Balaton, and that side is more alive. Parking is a bit tricky, you can drive in, but when you want to drive out, you first have to pay your ticket. Well there are two sides of the parking lot, and the paying kiosk was on the other side as where we parked and it doesn't accept credit card, only money. The highest denomination is 2000HUF, which is funny since the parking for like 4 hours for a car was about 2000HUF and I tried to pay with a 5000.. Nevertheless it is a visit worthy place, and a must have if you want to have a ship trip to Badacsony.

Lovely town and view by the pier to Badacsony... Brings back great memories, unfortunately life took me far away but will visit back surely. Lovely people, restaurants, buffets... It's a must see location when you visit Hungary or the Lake Balaton. Also, quick access to Badacsony by ferry where you can taste excellent wines - and food.
