The construction of the Fonyód Castle began in a new position after 1544 and was finally completed in the middle of the 1550s, when it had to end the Turkish siege. The square 60x60 square mansion for a long time withstood the Turkish siege, only after the death of Bálint Magyar Palonai, the captain of the castle, the Turks could occupy it in 1575. Because they did not need it destroyed, so that the Hungarians could not use it again. The stones of the ruins of the inner castle were scattered by the inhabitants of the poor countryside during the re-settlement in the 19th century. The castle remains entirely of the moat.

It is a pity that the Turks completely destroyed the castle and then, from 1575, the inhabitants returning to Fonyód spread the stones for construction, so there was not too much, just the foundation of the church. But it is good that at least so many memories remained from 1554.

According to the description on the internet, I expected to find something old Hungarian. There was only a sign on it, the writing was no longer legible. For children it may be a great meadow to play and run around. I was very disappointed.

Nice big green area that is still running to mow, but the wooden structures, starting with the access bridge, are rotten, life-threatening. It would be worthwhile to renovate them and possibly provide the sink with a sink and toilet, even if it is a mobile toilet. The playground is nice anyway, the renovated area is clean, great with kids and the best kite flying spot in the area because there are few trees to get into.

Could be a much more pleasant place! Not bad now, but it would take a lot more care ... that's what it shows. Unfortunately, the respect of the residents is also lacking, as despite the prohibition signs it is used as a dog runner ... and, of course, there is no maintainer nearby. The pictures tell you everything, as is good practice. Parking is possible on Arok Street, although there is no designated parking lot.

Later we had to realize: yes, there may be a football field in the castle. Inside is a beautiful monument listing the defenders of the hero of the castle (from captain to public). The inscription on it reads: "Keep this glorious example of this granite, which has been hovering over this square for centuries! The memory of Haza and Fonyód should never pass away!" When, after 1541, Bálint Magyar from Palona heard that Buda had fallen, he surrounded the then small church of Fonyód with a ditch. After fortifying it with a plank, he then scurried around a 60x60-meter-long outer castle that had advanced into the inner castle. Then, with a few dozen knights, he held himself stubbornly. The stubborn Mr. Bálint was a "fair" man, beating not only the Turks, but also the Hungarian lordship, who did not give up his land "voluntarily" for his sake. While his fighting hero was alive, the castle stood. Two years after his death in 1575 he then fell. Today it is a fresh green, beautiful area. The foundations of the church fortress are clearly visible. There is a deep ditch, outer plank. Well, and of course a tiny soccer field. I liked how skillfully the spirit of the heroes of the past was blended with the fuss of today’s children. Commissioner Bálint Magyar from Paló would say this: "Let that bastard move, get stronger, divide if you become a lad, and then we will hit the opposite together!" After we were “done” with the Pheasant, we rushed up to Sípos Hill. At the Post Office Lookout, we wanted to "dive" in the sight of the "Hungarian Sea". Lake Balaton grew up in the fog here and there. It wasn’t a bath, at most a “kitty wash”.
