The church was originally built in the 13th century. It was built in the 16th century and then rebuilt several times. Its original Romanesque elements are the portholes of the tower and the remnants of the semicircular entrance on the south side.

Ezt a falut a legtöbben a Vadása-tó miatt ismerik, pedig legalább ennyire híres szép dombon trónoló Árpád-kori temploma. 1310-ben említik először írott források, a falu nevét templomának védőszentjéről kapta. 1423-as oklevélben Zenth Jacabfalva néven szerepel. Híres „gazdái” voltak az Eszterházyak, majd a Sigray grófok.
No, de honnan a Kosárfalva elnevezés? A régi falu területe egyezett a maiéval. A régi falut Pusztaszentmártont a török elpusztította. Ekkor az életben maradottak új falut alapítottak (a mait). Mivel állatuk sem maradt így megmaradt motyójukat kosarakban cipelték. No, innen a név!

This village is known to most because of Lake Vadása, although it is at least as famous for its Árpádian church on a beautiful hill. It is first mentioned in written sources in 1310, the village got its name from the patron saint of its church. In a charter of 1423 it is mentioned as Zenth Jacabfalva. Famous “farmers” were the Eszterházys and then the Counts of Sigray.
Well, but where does the name Basket Village come from? The area of the old village matched that of today. The old village of Pusztaszentmárton was destroyed by the Turks. It was then that the survivors founded a new village (the mait). Since their animals were not left either, they carried their remaining moto in baskets. Well, hence the name!
