Huge art museum with a wide and thorough selection of local art. I was lured in by the temporary Gerhard Richter exhibition (which was great!) and decided to check out the rest of the building as well. It was a great chance to see the Buda castle building from inside and even though it looks quite modernistic, it was still a nice experience. Even the entrance to the dome is included in the museum ticket price! The museum is a bit difficult to navigate at times and to really look at everything you’d need at least 2 hours.

The Gerhard Richter exhibition was excellent. It's only on until November 28 so get your skates on if you want to see an interesting cross section of his work. Coffee and donuts in the museum cafe was a good start as is the view of the city from the museum's cupola.

I just loved it. Located in one of the castle structures. So many beautiful artistic works. I reccomend to visit it…it’s a must while in Budapest.

It's a great center to observe and study different art pieces from some of Hungary's best artists from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The top floor covers some modern art pieces which didn't really appeal to me. The ground floor is the best with some beautiful examples of realism.

Yes, pricey to enter but IMO worth it. I really enjoyed the pre-Gothic and early Gothic art, sculptures and stands. The other half of the perm collection is devoted to 19th century and some 20th century art which is not my thing for the most part. Spent a couple hours in here. Photos allowed. Great views from the dome.

Fascinating. Excellent collection of Hungarian Art. Best six hours spent in Budapest. Worth every penny! Didn't get a student discount (unfortunately). Would recommend it for art lovers. If you can spend hours looking at a painting, go right ahead. I wish someone had told us to have a big, hearty breakfast before going though. Hehe.
