Very good excursion destination, calm and quiet. Korkován, Köbölkút, Háromhegy. Local people use all three names. This place is the southern side of Badacsony Hill. It's slower and old. Small backyard vineyards and cellars everywhere. There are no big wineries here. Everything here looks like 30 years ago. The term name is derived from the fact that more than 200 years ago, German wine-growers came here and sought to buy the famous Badacsony wines. Of course, since they came from the north they stopped here and the local farmers wanted to sell their own wine-bar. At that time, there was a distinct difference between wines made from vineyards on the south and north. It's true even today. When the German wine merchant had been drinking the wine, they started to shake their heads. They knew the true Badacsony wine and they knew the fruits of the south side. In the midst of a great scramble, the phrase was repeated as "korken vine", in Hungarian, cork grapes with which they referred to the paraffinic taste of wine. Another version is "gar kein vine" which means no real wine. Since they repeated a lot of these words, Hungarian farmers have heard the word Korkován from it. Over time, this name stuck to the place. Maybe not. I heard this story from my old man who had a cellar and a vineyard here.
