★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zugligetben fogták el a császári katonák Kossuth Lajost 1837 májusában, amikor orvosi javaslatra Stettner János huszárkapitány nyaralójában pihent. Ebben a majorban az 1760-as évektől működött egy vendégfogadó, mely később a közeli tengerszemre emlékeztető tavacskáról, az Istenszeme-tóról kapta a nevét. A kis tavat a közeli Disznófő-forrás vize táplálta. A vendéglőt kezdetben németül ismerték „Zum Auge Gottes” néven, azonban nem kellett sok idő, hogy a magyar „Istenszeme” elnevezés váljék elterjedtebbé. A vendégfogadó a XIX. század első felében a kirándulók egyik kedvelt célpontja, pihenőhelye volt.
Ez Budapest első Kossuth szobra. Szép kiránduló hely.
In Zugliget, the imperial soldiers captured Lajos Kossuth in May 1837, when, on medical advice, Captain János Stettner was resting in his hut. In this estate there was a guesthouse from the 1760s, which later got its name from the pond near the sea, the Eye of God. The small lake was fed by the water of the nearby Pig Head Spring. The restaurant was originally known in German as "Zum Auge Gottes", but it did not take long for the Hungarian name "God of God" to become more widespread. The inn is from the 19th century. In the first half of the 20th century it was a popular destination for holidaymakers.
This is Budapest's first statue of Kossuth. Nice place for hiking.

"Kevesen tudják, de Zugligetben található Budapest első Kossuth szobra, mely mind a mai napig látható. Miután Kossuth halál híre elért Budapestre, azonnal lázas szervezkedésbe fogtak mind a magánszemélyek, mind pedig a különböző egyesületek, hogy méltó emléket állítsanak Kossuth Lajosnak.
Az ügy azonban nem akart előre haladni. A Zugligeti Egyesület látva a főváros tehetetlenségét, külön gyűjtésbe kezdett, és mivel itt a Hegyvidéken fogták el Kossuthot 1837-ben – miközben éppen pihenőjét tartotta az egyik zugligeti fogadóban –, jogalapot képeztek arra, hogy a szobrot felállítsák, amellyel minden más kezdeményezést megelőztek. "
