Kozma Street Cemetery - Kozma Street Cemetery
Cemetery | Friends of Budapest Jewish Cemetery | Hungary - Budapestjewishcemetery.com
The Jewish Cemetery of Budapest is one of the top 5 Jewish cemeteries in the world. This historically outstanding memorial is in terrible condition. Our aim in the short run is to save the cemetery for total destruction by trees and shrubs, and in the long run to elevate it to a worthy condition.

You can walk in silence, remember. Painfully wonderful place. I love plots that look “careless,” but there’s a truth to living life. There are crypts of many famous people here, all of them fantastic monuments, a pity for them to be destroyed. It can be visited except on Saturdays. If anyone would like to visit here, be sure to check out the cemetery website.

One of the largest Jewish cemeteries in the world. 77 hectares in size. Around 300,000 people found their last resting place in about 250,000 graves. The cemetery is for the most part very neglected and in bad condition. It lacks the funds for renovation, as the descendants of those buried here, either emigrated or perished in the Holocaust. The present Jewish community of Hungary is relatively small.

Éppen EZ a tisztelet jele!
Beautiful vegetation, special crypts and tombs. Those who ask for "caring" (I read the previous opinions) are not aware of the basic things! According to the Jewish tradition, we should not cut back the rampant vegetation, let the nature do its job. That's the sign of respect. Likewise, it is not customary to bring flowers, wreaths, lit candles, at least one gravel on the grave. Etc
Do not care for the dead, ie the gravestones, but treat the living ones well!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A kulturális örökségünk része, mely igazi felfedező útra is késztethet. Elég nagy a temető, érdemes rá időt szánni.
Sajnos csak a temető első parcelláival foglalkoznak rendszeresen. Éppen ezért igen szemetes, hiányoznak a szemét tárolására, gyűjtésére használható tárolók. A temető vezetése többet is tehetne, ha olyan lenne a hozzáállásuk.
It is part of our cultural heritage that can lead to a real journey of discovery. The cemetery is big enough, it's worth taking the time to. The tombs of many famous people can be seen. It is located in a nice environment, but in a pretty bad condition.
Unfortunately, only the first plots of the cemetery are regularly dealt with. That is why it is very rubbish, there are no containers for storing and collecting rubbish. Cemetery management could do more if they had that attitude.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Big cemmetery with lots of quiet old tombs, haven seen up to the 19th century actually; and some areas have the looks for even older, with plaques made of stone and so.
A bit abandoned on some many sites, though comprehensible for its age I guess.
Some of the monuments erected close by the entrance's tombs are pretty stunning, but there's just a couple of then. Then goes along pretty common actually. Not that remarkable that you shall not miss or so.
