The park is beautiful, the information at the exhibition is kind and professional.

I have tried the visit several times, but due to the problems described, I was unable to get in. The opening hours are displayed differently on the website than on the entrance sign. It also happened that the museologist had just come out of the gate, I think, looked at us well, then closed the gate and left. This place should also be better appreciated because of Mikszáth's memory. I will not give up! THE EVALUATION DOES NOT APPLY TO THE MEMORIAL HOUSE, BUT TO THE OPERATORS OF THE MEMORIAL HOUSE!

Horpács was the writer's chosen home in Nógrád. In 1904 he bought the 420-acre estate. In 1906, next to the ground-floor old mansion, he had a new castle built by local architects. The original building was remodeled over time because the former entrance was under the tympanum. On the façade wall of the building - under the tympanum resting on the classicizing Corinthian columns - the Mór Jókai relief refers not only to the discipleship he felt for Mikszáth's beloved predecessor, but also to the fact that the writer called Mók Jókai's Life and Age. from the honorarium of his biographical work of a monographic nature. He was highly esteemed e.g. Theodore Roosevelt fell in love with his novel The Umbrella of St. Peter so much that he visited him during his 1910 European tour to express his admiration. In my photo taken in the courtyard of the mansion, the writer was depicted sitting on his favorite bench by the sculptor. Unfortunately, it would have been nice to see the house from the inside, but it wasn’t open. It is always closed on Mondays. I did not know this. But as soon as I can, I will notify everyone again.

Mikszáth's entire life and work can be seen at the exhibition. It is worth studying the boards all the way through.

Very nice museum. Objects and written memories are left here for us from the legacy of the great writer. Mikszáth lived here at the end of his life. He bought the property in 1904, and construction began in 1906. Due to the death of the writer, the mansion was never completely completed. It is very cold inside in winter, it is worth getting well dressed.
