Millennium Monument Renovated in 1938. Could not enter. There is probably an unfinished wall picture at the conquest.

It is worth eliminating the difference in level to get up because of what is the most picturesque picture! Unfortunately, the Millennium Monument is currently unavailable, but it can be viewed from the outside. Good condition ? regularly maintained, with a nice view of the entrance. Next to the building there is a couple of woods and tables where one can relax.

On the way we headed for the lookout. In 1896, on the occasion of the thousandth anniversary of the Conquest, 7 monuments were erected at various points in the Carpathian Basin to commemorate the seven tribes. There are only 2 left (this and the Opus).

I started on the S lane. I barely walked 300 meters and got to another sight. In 1896, the House of the Country passed a law on the worthy celebration of the millennium: in addition to the construction of a monument in the city park and 400 new elementary schools, a memorial column was erected in seven parts of the country based on the idea of ​​Kálmán Thaly. We list these places painfully (so the wound is especially throbbing around June 4): on Munkács Castle Hill, on Zobor Hill near Nitra, on Dévény Castle Hill, on Zimony Castle Hill, on Czenk Hill in Brasov, in Pusztaszer and in Pannonhalma. The foundation stone of the Pannonhalma monument was laid in 1896 and inaugurated in 1897. It was not a column, but a 26-meter-high building covered with a double domed shell. The outer shell was a huge replica of the holy crown made of copper (Unfortunately, this had to be demolished in 1938). This building still stands today, unlike its cross-border counterparts. It announces our millennial presence here in the Carpathian Basin, here on the sacred mountain of Pannonia.

Unfortunately, you can't see it inside, but it's worth stopping and walking around for a few photos from the outside. Located on the road to the lookout.
