Az eredeti kút története ,,1880-ban I. Ferenc József is átutazott Újhelyen, az akkor még épület nélküli állomáson nagy fogadást rendeztek a rövid időre megálló császár tiszteletére. 1884-ben került sor a második Dörzsik–kút felállítására, melyre a Ferenczy-szobor helyett a Medici Vénusz másolata került az egyik itteni orvos, Nyomárkay József adományaként."
