★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best restaurant in Hungary. If you're visiting the Balaton/Hévíz Region it must be on your list. Don't expect something ordinary, because this food will blow your mind. Everything is freshly made, so please be patient, this is not a fast food chain. The owner, Gabor is also a really great guy and a friendly host. Can't recommend enough!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing experience and rating truly reflects the quality. Hidden place in the middle of orchard with the genius loci. The atmosphere is relaxed and the owner is proud personality. The food was "Michelin" home made art. We had a starter and the main course and it was more than enough. See the pictures. No other comment needed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love this place! After long time I have seen a waiter who enjoyed his job. The food here was exceptional! Portions were enormous. We had absolutely amazing goat soup whit tarragon. All they serve is a local production. Mangalica pork and hungarian beef were stunning. I wish to come back to taste all other meals here...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Michelin guide for Hungary rates Öreg Harang as "average". Well..... If this is average food, I can't wait to try good food, as we found this restaurant exceptional. Granted, no menu, no wine list, no English at all. And don't hold your breath for service. However the food is excellent. The key here is to go-with-the-flow, and let them surprise you with great food. Cash only.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ By far the best restaurant in Hungary, a truly hidden gem :D The food is just incredible piece of art, and the taste is second to none. They even prepared vegan options for some of us. The service is hilarious, its an entertainment in itself. Our cheeks hurt from laughing :D Must try if visiting this region. Also, reservation must be made beforehand, and only cash is accepted.

The service is such an experience; the food is local and so delicious - some traditional, some less, and all perfectly prepared; but the experience truly comes from the fact that you really feel you are eating at their house and they are hosting you. It's so much more than just a restaurant. A must go-to!
