A beautiful little memorial plaque and a sculpted lion statue commemorate history!

In 1926, on the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács, at the initiative of the Military Museum, the chief notary Nándor Baranyay and the headquarters of the Jesus Society in Érd erected a monument at the intersection of Római út and Kastély utca, at the beginning of the road to the castle. The inscription on the monument recalls the few days when II. Our King Louis stayed in Érd on his way to Mohács. The monument in front of the retaining wall of the castle is decorated with a lion from Roman times. Another ornament of the monument is the coat of arms of the Ákosházi Dragon family. In honor of the Millennium, the monument was renovated by the city. In addition to the stone conservation works of the existing monument, the gardening of the narrower environment was arranged, as well as the construction of a staircase made of oven stone and the excavation of the original carved stone sidewalk leading to the castle.

The monument to King Louis II drowned in the Csele stream during the battle of Mohács. A surviving stone lion from Roman times was also built into the monument.
