A keresztet 1857. szeptember 14.-én állíttatta Ranolder János veszprémi püspök. Magyarország legismertebb keresztje. A kilátóteraszról egyedülálló kilátás nyílik a Balaton nyugati végére, érdemes tehát nem kihagyni! Megéri a fáradtságot. The fastest way to get there is from Badacsonytördemic, through the stairs of Bujdosók. Going to the right at the top of the stairs, you can reach it in about 10 minutes. The cross was erected on September 14, 1857 by Bishop János Ranolder of Veszprém. The most famous cross in Hungary. The lookout terrace offers a unique view of the western end of Lake Balaton, so it's not to be missed! Worth the effort.

Great view, very nice! Where man starts the hike is not so well trained, but otherwise very good! The hike is very exhausting!

A kereszt nemcsak a településünk, de az ország egyik legismertebb keresztje is: legendák, regék és versek ihletője, idegenforgalmi látványosság. Így ír róla Eötvös Károly : Utazás a Balaton körül című könyvében: „Ott van a Kereszt a fennsík déli peremén, Fonyód egyenes átellenében. Hatalmas négyszögű faragott kövekből emelt óriási feszület. Hogy megláthassák az utazók a partról, a hajósok a vízről. S hogy amikor föltekintenek a hegyre, eszükbe jusson, hogy bércen, sziklán, ormokon túl, égen, földön s minden magasságokon felül van még fenség, az igazi fenség: a Megváltó” Bishop János Ranolder of Veszprém erected the 12 m high stone cross on the 400 m high edge of Badacsony above the Bell Tower in 1857.
