I spent in Ravin Hostel four days and I can say that it's worth its price. It was one of the chippest hostel, but it wasn't very clean.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! I felt threatened by manager, And it’s not that nice of place on top of that. Booked three nights in private room/ shared bath. 50 EU per night. The building is going under renovations, obviously this was not on the discription of the place. I was woken by hammers and saws at 7am. No one could sleep through that. Well maybe if you were already dead.. Policy was to prepay in cash - so I asked very politely , charge me a cancelation fee. And return me two nights/ fee for two nights minus cancelaction fee of 30-50% Well he def refused, when I let him know I plan to write horrible review, because it reasonable expectation that for the most expensive room(that’s private), i get a good nights sleep at least toll 8am ..he didn’t like that, which was visible. He did offer to switch me from a private room to a shared room but obviously I paid a premium to have my own space with my traveling companion. He basically told me he won’t give me any money back and to either switch to shared room more recessed into the building or stay in loud private room. When I told him that I’m extremely disappointed and that as a manger he should take responsibility for his guests experience, he let me know his owner/boss had previously used his “3 personal Secuirty guards” to remove guests forcibly. St that point there was no way in hell I was gonna leave my personal belongings behind when the guy was basically telling me, suck it up or we will strong arm you.. “They will kick you out like a football” was the exact expression he used. If you are thinking of staying here, reconsider, actually just DON’T. From one traveler to all those reading this review. STAY CLEAR Of RAVEN HOSTEL! If you the manager are reading this, I told you I would write this review. I appreciate that you apologized after the fact when you saw me leaving with my bags , but the blows . And threats were already thrown at that point and I dont feel comfortable staying there at all or leaving my belongings behind l, but eh company of someone who is already ripping me off. I don’t even know if I would come back, if you agreed to return/repay my money, who knows if your boss and his security would be there. If you wanna return my money and have me take this down, you’ll have to leave it at front desk of hotel. I will not meet you.

This was one of my very best stays in a hostel. The hostel itself is clean and quiet, and when I needed people to talk to, I found them, and when I needed privacy, I got it. Apart from that the employees were really friendly, every morning the greeted me with a smile and wished me good-bye when I left. The employees also helped me in an unexpected emergency, when a friend of mine had missed her train out of Budapest. Although it was already well past their usual working time, I asked if there would be another bed for her this night. They imediatelly prepared one for her and when my friend did not have enough cash on her to pay the full price, they said they would make an exeption for her, as it really was an emergency. I really appreciated their gesture of kindness. And I can only recommend staying here!!

Very nice staff but...This place needs a makeover. Kitchen is "only for making tea and coffee" - that is what is written on a poster in the kitchen. No wonder why, when all of the available pots and pans are gross. There is an electric kettle and a working microwave, though. Bathroom - well... There are 4/5 rooms in the hostel, each with 3-4 beds and there is only one toilet and one shower for girls, for boys 2 shower cabins and one toilet. Their bathroom needs an urgent renovation! The water is warm, though. The price is low, I know, but still there are some hygiene standards that they should keep up with.

I stayed here several years ago and chose it solely because I was a broke student and they offered the cheapest rooms, so take of that what you will - but it was an interesting experience. The hostel wasn't that clean as I remember, but the owner and the staff were very friendly and we went out together one night which was good craic although some of the group got into a fight. Another of the guests was trying to hit on one of the staff girls, which is always fun... The bathroom was kind of funky and was perpetually flooded and damp, which was rather offputting, but maybe they've improved on that since. The location is alright, it's just off the main road and within a minute's walk of the nearest tram stop. If you fancy a walk you can go there from Nyugati main station which is about 15 -20 mins walk.
