A TiKi koktélok története

A Tiki koktélok eredete egészen az 1930-as évek Amerikájáig nyúlik vissza, amikor is egy világot járt férfiú, bizonyos Don Beach megnyitotta éttermét Hollywoodban. Az étteremben a polinéziai ételspecialitások mellett különleges, egzotikus, rum tartalmú italokat szolgáltak fel. Don ezzel egy egészen új stílusnak adott életet a vendéglátóiparban, amit azóta is Tiki Kultúrának neveznek.
Don volt az első, aki a friss gyümölcslevekhez és édes szirupokhoz rumot kevert, megalkotva a Tiki Koktélt. Akkortájt a rum nem számított közkedvelt terméknek. Csak a tengerészek és a szegényebb réteg kortyolgatta kopottas flaskákból. Beach teljesen új értelmet adott ennek az akkor olcsó és megvetett alkoholos folyadéknak.
Kezdetben Rum Rapszódiaként ismerték és szolgálták fel az italokat Don Beachcomber's nevű éttermében a hollywoodi elit számára. Az 1940-es és 1960-as évek filmcsillagjai körében nagy népszerűségre tett szert a koktél. Olyan máig is népszerű receptek születtek ezekben az időkben Don Beach kreativitása alapján, mint a legendás Zombie, a szédítő Scorpion, vagy a Tiki Kultúra szinonimájának számító Mai Tai.
Az italok közös jellemzője a Rum szükségessége az összetevők között. A színes külső és látványos díszítés valóban gondoskodik arról, hogy a fogyasztó egzotikus hangulatban találja magát. A legtöbb étterem úgynevezett Tiki bögrékben szolgálja fel ezeket az egzotikus italkölteményeket, emelve a felszolgált koktél színvonalát és küllemét.
Az 1970-es évek és a vietnámi háború vetett véget az egzotikus aranykornak, s az 1980-as években szinte teljesen eltűnt a Tiki kultúra minden színe java.
Napjainkban azonban újra virágzásnak indultak ezek az egyedi stílusú éttermek és bárok – felélesztve a Tiki Kultúrát s annak éltető nektárját, a Tiki Koktélokat. Akárcsak a kezdetekben, a jelen korban is az egzotikus stílus és trópusi hangulat jellemző a vendéglátóipar ezen egyedi gyöngyszemeire. Népszerűségük felemelkedőben van, hiszen joggal mondhatjuk: ha Tiki koktélt iszol, az élet sokszínűségét ízleled meg!

The price was also O.K (but expensive for Hungary in general). Our euphoria was a little bit dampened, after we paid our drinks.... The waitress didn't tell us that the service was already charged and billed.... I suppose she was happy for the huge tip she got out of that.....

Prices are totally fine. Make sure to reserve a table to be able to come in.

I loved the strength meter, the key meter for sour to sweet drinks. I went for the Viva Los Muertos, the strongest drink on the menu and it definitely served its purpose I tell you that much. Would definitely recommend.

The menu is interesting and fun with a large and varied cocktail selection. Usually you would need to book to guarantee a table but we got lucky and were seated anyway.

The staff is very good at helping you pick the best cocktail for you. The only down side is that it’s a very popular place, so you MUST have a reservation to get in, and as soon as your reservation is over, you have to leave. But overall, it’s a really nice place with affordable prices.
