Beautiful church. To enter please report to the right at the entrance. That is not clearly indicated. But once inside you step into a beautiful time capsule.

The Serbian Church of St. Nicholas (summer), which is now a museum, is definitely worth a visit. From the center, Dobo ter, some 15 minutes. It needs renovation. There used to be about 70 churches in the whole country and now there are more about 40.

It is a beautiful place, most similar to Miskolc. A renovation would also fit the interiors, the roof is ready.

A pearl that can now be refurbished. :) It's a bit far from the city center, so I think few go there. Though the main pedestrian street was where to go, there wasn't a single board near the church, no matter where it could be approached. After a small staircase you can get into a bell wooden door.

It is a unique, beautiful place of its kind. As if time had stopped. Must see. I'm afraid it might not be long because it collapses. On our visit there were several kilos of pieces falling from the baroque ornamentation of the tower. Shame! The 33 Lebanese Coptic Christian churches restored from Hungarian taxpayers' $ 1.5 million may not look like this. This is what I recommend for consideration for those who, due to their condition, "rewarded" this monumental rarity in Hungary.

Church on the hill. Tourists visiting Eger are more familiar with the city, its baroque buildings, baths and wines. At the same time, few people know that the barely known church rising in the northern part of the county seat of Heves, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, hides wonderful treasures. As the saying goes, to see Rome and to die. However, it is simply forbidden to do this until one has at least once seen the iconostasis of a Serbian church, which is actually an ornate picture wall separating the sanctuary from the nave. In Hungary, the carved, baroque style iconostasis is typical, which often extends from the floor to the ceiling. The wall is surrounded by sacred images that follow each other in strict order Serbs, Greeks and other Orthodox ethnic groups in the Balkans began to settle in large numbers in Eger during the Turkish occupation in the 17th century. The first probably came to the city in 1660, after the Turkish occupation of Oradea. The number of Serbs in Eger increased dramatically after the end of Turkish rule, as in 1690 Patriarch Arsenye Karnoyevich led 35,000 Serbian families to Hungary, a significant part of whom settled in Eger. At first, the Augustinian order used a medieval church on the same site. After a long time, wealthy Greeks and Serbs, mainly engaged in the wine trade, applied to build a new church on the site of their crumbling church, this II. King Joseph allowed them. The church, which can still be seen, was built between 1785 and 1799, based on the plans of János Povolni, in a braid style. He began carving the iconostasis of the church in 1789. Miklós Jankovics. There are sixty plaques on the huge wall surface praising the handiwork of Viennese painter Anton Kuchelmeiser. These icons properly represent the lives of Jesus and Mary, as well as the apostles, saints, and prophets. This church is the largest and perhaps the most beautiful of the Greek Orthodox churches in Hungary. Copf style, which together with the Rococo is a late branch of the Baroque, pre-Classicism. It was already characterized by clearer, clearer lines, simplicity and clarity were important aspects. The tomb garden around the church offers a wonderful view of the city. Inside, in addition to its imposing iconostasis, you can also see a braid-style, richly carved pulpit and a mini-exhibition on the history of the pilgrimage site.
