Gothic church with relics of St. Elżbieta Węgireska. It is nicely illuminated from the outside, it makes a big impression. On sunny days, the white stone looks great. It is worth reading about its history.

Sárospatak a középkorban a magyar királynők kedvelt birtoka volt, itt született II. András király és Gertrudis királyné lánya, Árpád-házi Szent Erzsébet is. (a nevek ismerősek a Bánk bán-ból)
A templom is az Árpádházi királyok idejében épült, története évszázadokon át a vár történetéhez kapcsolódott. Vártemplomként működött, a templom északi fala a védőfal egyik szakasza lett beépített lőrésekkel, kilövőhelyekkel.
St. Elizabeth's Church:
In the Middle Ages, Sárospatak was a popular property of Hungarian queens. Also the daughter of King Andrew and Queen Gertrudis, St. Elizabeth of the House of Arpad. (names are familiar from Bánk bán)
The church was also built in the time of the kings of Árpádháza, its history has been connected to the history of the castle for centuries. It functioned as a castle church, the northern wall of the church became a section of the defensive wall with built-in portholes and firing points.
