★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having myself visited before, my children and I travelled to our ancestral village of Somogyvámos- it is truly a beautiful and historic place. We wanted to create a record of our visit- beyond our memories and photographs- so we purchased some postcards and took them to the Post Office. It is easy to assume that an official office will be a cold, bureaucratic place, but we were greeted as we walked in. I speak only a very few words of Hungarian and the woman at the counter had fewer words of English, but she made sure that our cards were properly posted. It is amazing to think that a visit to a Post Office would be a subject of memories- but we remain fondly reminiscent.
