Szamos has to me the best traditional Hungarian cakes in Budapest and great ice-cream as well (vanilla is among top in Budapest). There is more famous places, like NY cafe, Gerbeaud etc. in Budapest but their cakes are similar (very good cakes as well) but more pricy. This Szamos has a nice garden in the summer as well and serves real hot chocolate in the winter. I have been a frequent customer here for 15 years and the quality level has always been stable. The service is formal and traditional. So if you want a small excursion out of the center, take the cogwheel tram and visit Szamos and why not a walk before or after in Normafa. You won't be disappointed.
