★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Children Railway is operated by young volunteers (except the runner of the engine). Very nice forest track.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one end of the Gyermekvasut. There is a ticket desk, some benches inside and outside for waiting. In the summer there's usually some small stands selling ice cream, drinks or snacks. There is a large playground nearby as well. Just a short walk from the 60 tram (the cogwheel railway).
IMPORTANT: Cash only! You can only buy tickets to the Children's Railway with Hungarian forint in cash, so come prepared!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was fun to ride the railway. We got a family ticket even though we were only 2 adults, because we wanted to get off and on a few times. This seemed to confuse the conductors at first.
Once we reached the other end of the line we stayed in the carriage and it went to the train yard to drop off one of the other carriages. There we got to see the steam engine and 1920s blue carriage.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An awesome experience! I mean a railway run by children, what an idea, you can tell it goes back to a Soviet way of doing things.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A railway run by the local children has its roots deep in the socialist system when it was known as pioneer railway. It is still run by the children and this fact makes it an interesting sight. The trip itself isn’t that great, the view feom the train is actually a bot boring. At the Szechenyihegy station please note the removed Rakosi (Stalinist) coat of arms from the flags of the mosaic.
