The Roman Catholic school in Karcag was founded in the late 18th century for the children of the parish founded in 1769. Due to the surge in the number of children, in 1913 it was decided to build a new, much larger school building, which remained a plan for one and a half decades due to the World War. In the shadow of the coming global crisis, the intention would not have gone ahead without the Minister of Culture, Kuno Klebelsberg. It was thanks to him that the ministry took over 90% of the construction costs. This assistance helped finish the school building for Catholic girls. He began his education in 1930 with the five sisters of the Salvator Order. The ancient building is worth a visit today.

In 1948, this institution was also nationalized, after it operated as the State Primary School and then as the Zádor Road Primary School. Over the long series of years, the entrance to the main building was dominated by Catholic badges and the inscription of the original name of the school, almost indicating the idea and need to restore the Catholic school. The idea of ​​restarting the Catholic school first arose in the fall of 1994, but the city administration at the time accepted it with reservations and was removed from the agenda. In the spring of 2008, the idea of ​​founding a Christian school was raised again, which was also supported by the Karcag families, so the building previously owned by the parish returned to its rightful owner in 2009, and the Diocese of Eger established the St. Paul Catholic Primary School as the legal successor of the Zádor Road Primary School. . The school, renewed in its spirituality and maintainer, began its activities with the active participation of four members of the Order of Monks of the Mary School Brothers. After a year of successful co-operation in the work of educators, the Order of Monks demanded another change of maintainer, as a result of which from September 1, 2010 the Eger Archdiocese transferred the maintainers and ownership of our school to the Mária School Brothers. The order was founded in 1817 by the French father St. Marcellin Champagnat. Today, they perform their blessed activities in more than 80 countries around the world. Following the example of Mary, the monk brothers, following Jesus, do their educational work, paying special attention to the children who need it most. From September 1, 2010, in our institution at St. Paul's Marista Elementary School, brothers and lay people work together, shared among children.
