Very nicely renovated sculpture. "The Vendel statue in Pázmánd has a special history, ethnographer László Lukács wrote about it. The pedestal of the statue dates back to the 18th century. century. A few years ago, during a bush clearing, it was found on pasture owned by a large local farm. In the 1950s, vandalist hands demolished Calvary and the statue of St. Vendel on the pasture of the cooperative. On the pedestal of the latter it could be read: St. Vendel pray for us 1794. The fallen statue was taken to the vineyard by well-meaning people, hidden behind a press house. The damaged sculpture, which had been discarded for decades, was transported in 2011 to the studio of the sculptor Balázs Pintér of Mór, a group of friends from the vineyard in Pázmánd. It was thought that a statue of Saint Orban, a vine-saint, had been found. A member of the group of friends - my fellow student from Fehérvár in the 1960s - asked me to see the sculpture torso in Mór before restoration. I have found that it does not form a pope or a bishop, but a pastor, so it is not St. Orban, but St. Vendel. The statue was finally inaugurated on October 28, 2011 on the vineyard hill. On a new pedestal covered with natural stone stands a long-haired shepherd figure made of white limestone. He holds his heavily pleated cloak with his right hand and his sheep's hook with his left arm. He has a wide-brimmed hat on his back and a bottle of pumpkins on his side. On its base on a black marble slab: St. Vendel 1770. Renovated by: Szőlőhegyi Circle of Friends 2011. Restored by: stone sculptor Ferenc Richter. His fallen pedestal was overgrown with bushes on the pasture in its original place, and by releasing it, a new Vendel statue of Ferenc Máhr could now be placed on it. The people, guided by the Order of Ordans, who overthrew the statue of St. Vendel in Pázmánd, could not have guessed that after their vile deeds, the statue would be resurrected by two man-years, and would be doubled.

A warmly restored statue pays homage to the namesake in an extremely tranquil setting. Suitable for both relaxation and a little reflection, the medium maximally supports our ideas. It is recommended to drive, e.g. coming from the lookout.
