Már az újkőkorszakban ( Közép Európában kb. i.e. 5500-1900 ) is lakták a hegyet az akkori népek, majd az erődített település a késői bronzkorszakban, kb. i.e. 2000-1000 között alakult ki. Az 1960-as években a hegytető déli oldalán végzett régészeti ásatás feltárta néhány, a bronzkori 'Kyjatice kultúra'-hoz köthető ház maradványait és korabeli eszközöket. Az egykori, főleg földből emelt sáncok több helyen még látszanak, valamint egy középkori kőfal maradványa is. A középkori erődítményt a tatárjárás során rombolták le. A 2. Világháború folyamán német tüzérség is épített ki állást a hegytetőn amivel a teljes felsőtárkányi völgyet és utakat tűz alá tudták venni. A hegyen egyébként volt egy kilátó még a 20. század folyamán de már csak a vasszerkezet talpainak maradványa maradt meg. Túrázásra és terepfutásra jó hely, de ha elsősorban szép kilátás miatt jönnétek akkor javaslom ennek a hegynek a nyugati oldalán található 'Felhagyott dolomitbányát', vagy az észak-keleti oldalon a 'Kövesdi kilátó' nevű kilátópontot ahonnan gyönyörű a kilátás. A 'Felhagyott dolomitbányától' Felsőtárkányba is le tudtok menni a tóhoz vagy a faluba. Unfortunately, it is not a spectacular place from a tourist point of view, a forest covers the mountain everywhere and there is not a single lookout point, but its history is interesting. Already in the Neolithic Age (circa 5500-1900 BC in Central Europe) the mountain was inhabited by the peoples of that time, then the fortified settlement in the Late Bronze Age, ca. B.C. It developed between 2000 and 1000. Archaeological excavations on the south side of the hilltop in the 1960s uncovered the remains and contemporary tools of some of the houses associated with the Bronze Age ‘Kyjatice culture’. The former ramparts, mostly raised from the ground, are still visible in several places, as well as the remains of a medieval stone wall. The medieval fortress was destroyed during the Tartar invasion. During World War II, German artillery also built a stand on the hilltop to fire the entire valley and roads in Felsőtárkány. By the way, there was a lookout on the hill during the 20th century, but only the remains of the soles of the iron structure remained. It is a good place for hiking and cross-country running, but if you would come mainly for a nice view, I recommend the 'Abandoned Dolomite Mine' on the west side of this mountain, or the lookout point called 'Kövesdi Lookout Tower' on the north-east side. From the 'Abandoned Dolomite Mine' to Felsőtárkány you can also go down to the lake or the village.

Akit a történelem, vagy a tavaszi virágok érdekelnek, a belógó sombokroktól és egy kis meredektől nem ijed meg, annak 5 csillag. It doesn’t give up easily and doesn’t offer a huge endless view. If you are looking for a sight, do not come here! Anyone interested in history or spring flowers, not scared of drooping shrubs and a little steep, has 5 stars.

A földsáncoknak csak a nyomait találjuk, kilátás nincs a beerdősülés miatt, mégis elgondolkodtató és megborzongató hely. Nem bántam meg az erőfeszítést a fel- lemászásra. Only visit someone who has imagination and wants to be in a place where people have lived for thousands of years. We can only find traces of the earthen ramparts, there is no view due to the afforestation, yet it is a thought-provoking and creepy place. I did not regret the effort to climb.
