The new name of the Tárt Kapu Gallery is the Crossing Gallery. It operated in the former closed National Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology under the name of its predecessor, the Tárt Gate Gallery. After the closure of the institution, it was reopened after a break of 5 years, still called Tárt Kapu Galéria. The name change took place a few months ago. The quality of the work going on in it, under any name, is excellent. It is a frequented 3-minute walk from the Museum of Applied Arts. I have seen almost all of their exhibitions. They support the artistic self-expression of people with psychiatric illness. Mostly they do not exhibit the works of professional artists, but the works of art brut artists, in the framework of individual or group exhibitions. Art therapy groups are also held in the gallery. An excellent exhibition of the works made in the groups can still be seen right now. Entrance is free. Guided tours and sensitization sessions for school classes are also held free of charge. The place is a lovely corner gallery with a small gallery. Familiar, friendly atmosphere.
