★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Balkány 1941-től önálló egyházközség, korábban Biri filiája volt. 1944-ben templomépítéshez fogtak, de az e célra kapott telek az államosításkor elveszett. A földosztás után az egyik uradalmi magtárból kápolnát alakítottak ki. 1949-ben Fogarasi Mihály a görögkatolikus egyházra hagyta ingó és ingatlan vagyonát, így a háza parókia lett, amelynek udvarán 1977-ben építették fel az új templomot, a magtárból kialakított kápolnát lebontották. Az állami hatóságok akkoriban hivatalosan csak „imaház” építését engedélyezték, a közösség létszámához képest kicsi templomot ezért 1990 után kereszthajóval és új szentéllyel bővítették, homlokzata elé tornyot is emeltek. Az új oltárt és az ikonosztáziont Gergely József tervezte és faragta, a miskolci Kiss Lászlóné festette. Az ezredfordulón Mihai Pascariu az egész belsőt kifestette. Az üvegablakokat Monostory Viktória készítette.
Balkány was an independent parish from 1941, formerly Biri's branch. In 1944, they were built for church construction, but the land for this purpose was lost at nationalization. After the land division, a chapel was built from one of the mansion granaries. In 1949 Mihály Fogarasi left his movable and immovable property to the Greek Catholic Church, so his house became a parish, in which the new church was built in 1977, and the chapel from the granary was demolished. At that time, the state authorities officially authorized the construction of a "prayer house", and a small church, compared to the community, was then extended by a cross-boat and a new sanctuary after 1990, with a tower in front of its facade. The new altar and iconostasis was designed and carved by József Gergely, painted by László Kiss in Miskolc. At the turn of the millennium, Mihai Pascariu painted the entire interior. The glass windows were created by Viktória Monostory.
