★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Vaskakas talán a város legismertebb szimbóluma. A törökök Győr elfoglalásakor, 1594-ben állították széljelzőként a Dunakapu térre, ami piactérként működött nahyon sokáig.
A mondabeli jóslat szerint "Amikor ez a rézkakas kukorékolni fog, akkor foglalják vissza a magyarok Győrt." Négy évvel később egy bátor suszterinas felmászott a vaskakashoz, és hajnalban a trombitájával utánozta a kakaskukorékolást. Ettől megijedtek a babonás törökök, és így szereztük vissza a várost.
A tér átépítése után a Vaskakas kút átkerült a híd lábanak túloldalára.
 Vaskakas is perhaps the best known symbol of the city. The Turks occupied Győr in 1594 and set it as a windmark on Dunakapu Square, which served as a marketplace for a long time.
