A vasútállomás szerepe fontos,jelentős az utasforgalom,főleg a budapesti és nemzetközi vonatoknál. Zalaegerszegről Őrihodos, Budapest (Déli pályaudvar), Rédics, Celldömölk irányába naponta több vonat is indul illetve érkezik. Az állomást a MÁV üzemelteti.
