 The monument was erected on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Kodály's birth, commemorating Zoltán Kodály and Mihály Végh Kecskemét. Kecskemét's Psalm Revolution prepared in 1561 was used by Kodály when he created Psalmus Hungaricus (Hungarian Psalms).
