Benedek Elek (Kisbacon, 1859. szeptember 30. – Kisbacon, 1929. augusztus 17.) magyar újságíró, író, országgyűlési képviselő, „a nagy mesemondó”.
Benedek János és Benedek Marcella fiaként született. Bölcsésztanulmányait Székelyudvarhelyen, majd Budapesten végezte. Diákkorában néprajzi gyűjtőútra ment Sebesi Jóbbal. Újságíró lett: a Budapesti Hírlap és más lapok munkatársaként dolgozott.

Elek Benedek (Kisbacon, September 30, 1859 - Kisbacon, August 17, 1929) is a Hungarian journalist, writer, Member of Parliament, "the great storyteller".
He was born the son of János Benedek and Marcella Benedek. He studied humanities in Odorheiu Secuiesc and then in Budapest. As a student, he went on an ethnographic collecting trip with Job Sebesi. He became a journalist: he worked as an employee of Budapesti Hírlap and other newspapers.
