The statue of Konrad Adenauer has been in City Park since November 2015, but has only recently been added to Maps. I wanted to register the place, but they preceded it (my entry was rejected). After all, it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that you can now find the statue using GoogleMaps. I see an older but elegant, painted Konrad Adenauer. The inscription on the column and at the same time Adenauer’s quote: “The unity of Europe was a dream of few. It has become the hope of many. It is a necessity for all of us today. ” In Adenauer, one of the founding fathers of the United Europe, and II. we honor the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany after World War II (1949-1963). He knew exactly that there could be no more major wars in Europe, and to avoid that, only a final compromise between Germany and France, peace, was the solution. Thus, the cornerstone of its foreign policy was reconciliation with France. The historic turning point came in 1963, when French President Charles de Gaulle signed a treaty of cooperation between the two former ancient enemies, France and Germany, which became one of the milestones of European integration. Konrad Adenauer a II. also politicized before World War II, a member of the Catholic Centrum Party, a true Christian Democrat who never sympathized with the Nazis. Mayor of Cologne from 1917 to 1933 and then again in 1945. He was President of the Prussian Council of State from 1921 to 1933. He was relieved of his duties by the National Socialists, retired, and imprisoned in 1934 and after the assassination of Hitler (July 20, 1944). From 1949 to 1963 he was the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (source: wikipedia). An almost incredible curiosity from Adenauer’s life: he had 10 children.
