★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A kastély bejárata előtt áll Festetics Györgynek, a Georgikon alapítójának, a tudományok és az irodalom bőkezű pártfogójának szobra.
1902-ben avatták fel Keszthely főterén Lukácsy Lajos egész alakos (két mellékalakkal) Festetics szobrát.
A II. világháborút követően a szobor talapzatát szétverték, a fő- és a két mellékalakot a Balatoni Múzeum raktárába szállították.
A szobor helyére a szovjet hősi emlékmű került. Az 1956-os forradalom idején lerombolták a szovjet emlékművet és helyére, 1956. október 25-én, visszahelyezték a Festetics szobrot.
A forradalom leverését követően Festetics bronzszobra ismét a múzeum pincéjébe került.
A szobrot jelenlegi helyére, a kastélykert homlokzatának középtengelyében 1967-ben helyezték el.
In front of the entrance of the castle stands a statue of György Festetics, the founder of the Georgikon, a generous patron of sciences and literature.
In 1902, the full-length (with two side figures) statue of Lajos Lukácsy was inaugurated on the main square of Keszthely.
A II. After World War II, the pedestal of the statue was shattered, and the main and two side figures were transported to the warehouse of the Balaton Museum.
The statue was replaced by a monument to the Soviet hero. During the 1956 revolution, the Soviet monument was demolished and the Festetics statue was restored on October 25, 1956.
After the defeat of the revolution, the bronze statue of Festetics was again placed in the basement of the museum.
The statue was placed in its current location, in the central axis of the façade of the castle garden, in 1967.
