Inner City Calvary Chapel, Esztergom - Esztergom

It was a disappointment, we went upstairs with the kids, but unfortunately the church is in a pretty ugly state. They don't seem to be used. It is closed, with some graffiti on the wall, in the otherwise ever-beautiful building. A thorough renovation and revitalization would be very good for him, I don’t know if the city had planned.

When I arrived in Esztergom, on the outskirts of the city I received a sign with the following inscription: "Welcome to the city of St. Stephen!". I had long planned to go up to Calvary once. I did, thinking of the welcome lines. The city of St. Stephen? An old saying came to mind, connected with St. Stephen: as Calvary and its surroundings look, St. Stephen spins in his grave! Although I gave it five stars in the evaluation because it is indeed an intimate place, truly suitable for retreat, for living the faith, but it is terribly neglected. I am aware that the church has little money to maintain the associated facilities. But there are church councilors, believers in the church - and there should be attention. The situation in Calvary is worrying. The state of total neglect is shown. In a building, if a tile slips off and is not replaced, the facility will sooner or later be destroyed due to soaking. It's careless here, everything. When the plants grow on the stations, the roof is damaged, the glasses protecting the images of the stations are dirty or incomplete, and so on. Why are the surviving Calvary and the associated chapel, despite the systems that make multiple religions impossible, now neglected, when even from the tap, Christian Hungary ...... ???

Nice place with good views but neglected for better fate, the condition has deteriorated a lot since the last visit. Already fenced in, collapse is dangerous.

It's in a fantastic location. The view is also great. The condition of the chapel is deplorable, its tower tilted, only held by the soul. The chapel is fenced off due to the danger of an accident. The group of statues at the end of Calvary is quite unique because of its frstés. I hope they fix it in time before it collapses. Oh, there's a geocache next to it.

The crossroads line starts above the Downtown Cemetery. If we also visit the Statue of Christ, and then set off on a winding, wooded, slightly ascending walkway in front of the crossroads stations, we will soon arrive at the top of a hill, the Calvary Chapel in Downtown, in front of which is a group of Calvary statues. We can make a walk that gives a very special experience this way.

Completely ruined, crumbling church on Calvary Hill. Fenced with tape, "Watch out for danger of collapse!" It was built in 1900 and should not be destroyed that way. The tower is slowly falling. You can't even peek through a keyhole - like the chapel of the same age at the bottom of Calvary - it's in better condition for now

As I traversed the route of my great summer tour, I found this beautiful Calvary. I was already in the twilight at dusk. It had a beautiful view, a beautiful church and crosses. It's worth going to the maximum. It was like a mystical movie set when I was there.
