Lovagló lány

The sculpture was created in 1974 by sculptor Tamás Vígh. Interestingly, the horse “floats” in the air (secured with metal rods from the side) and the girl sits sideways, with two legs on the left side of the horse. English ladies are used to riding like this, but this girl apparently isn’t. In such a pose, the galloping horse would throw itself off in an instant, which could give a false image of riding. Plus, she looks up at the sky as if admiring celestial phenomena. I understand that the airiness of the statue would be lost if you sat the horse on its hair, leaning forward, clinging to its neck, but it had more to do with reality. Anyway, in proportions, the girl is much larger than the horse, it seems as if they are two equal parties, even though the man is much smaller than the horse. I confess I can’t figure out what the exact guiding idea was, what the statue wants to express. Maybe our ancestors arrived in the Carpathian Basin arriving so airy?
