Még nem volt töltve az átmeneti tároló, remélhetőleg nem is lesz rá sose szükség. A hidat Magyarország egykori miniszterelnökéről neveztek el, akinek a birtokai ezen területen voltak, aki sokat tett annak érdekében az XVIII. század második felében, hogy ezek a területek se legyenek a veszélyeztetve a Tisza áradásának. A medence gát koronája a Tisza torkolattól egészen végig körbe le van aszfaltozva (33km), közúti forgalomtól elzárt, ezért is közkedvelt kerékpáros (túra)útvonal.
