To bridge the Tisza and its floodplain near Kisköre, the first bridge was built in 1889 for rail traffic only, with a total length of 780 m. All supporting and bridging structures are made of wood. A special, large, continuous, lower-track wooden structure with an opening of 3 × 48 m was used to bridge the Tisza riverbed. The 6.5 m high, Howe-system, four-lattice main girders were made of 12.00 m long rectangular pine beams, with only the columns made of cast iron of circular cross-section. The bridge structure was connected by 37 bridge openings in the floodplain from Kisköre and 28 by floodplains from 9.40–10.00 m in the floodplain from Pusztataskony. Approximately 3,000 m3 of partly pine and partly pine were incorporated into the bridge structure. In 1944, the blast destroyed the iron structure of the three channel openings, the riverbed pillars and 8 floodplain pillars. The wreckage of the iron structures that fell into the riverbed was excavated in 1946, and the pillars were restored in 1948. Due to the lack of construction capacity, the restoration of the riverbed structures began in 1956. The old iron structures of the extreme channel openings have been restored with a significant amount of replacement and repair. The full-scale reconstruction of the bridge of regional significance was started on 16 June 2018, with restrictions on rail and bus traffic along the entire track. Although Hungary's only mixed-use road and rail crossing was safe, its technical condition deteriorated. From 15 May 2019, the bridge became usable, allowing road and rail traffic to resume. However, some follow-up work remains to be done: the railway company has entrusted the corrosion protection and concrete surface works of the steel structures of the floodplain structures to MÁV Felépítéskarbantadó és Gépjavító Kft., Which is expected to be completed by mid-November. Parts of the floodplain bridges and the surroundings of the bridge are still considered work areas, so the speed limit of twenty kilometers per hour will remain in force in road and rail traffic until then. After completing the work, the speed limit will be increased to forty.
