Best Italian restaurant in Hungary

S	Sam Nugent on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional food and atmosphere. Prices are relatively high for Budapest but this is reflected in the quality of the food. Carpaccio (starter) and mussels in white wine sauce were fabulous, as was the octopus and veal cheek. Only thing that tainted the evening for us; immediately after arriving a bottle of champagne was opened at the table and we were asked if we wanted to ‘try’ it. We said yes and found out when the bill arrived we had been charged €32 for two 100ml glasses. We challenged this and were told ‘this is what happens’ in Budapest. Maybe we were naive but we just thought they were being nice and offering us a welcome drink!The manager was good and took the charge off the bill, hence still a 5* review. Just beware, say no to this ‘kind’ offer or else you may have a similar experience.

The flavors didn't blend perfectly with slightly to strong smoke notes at times. The lamb might have been the best lamb I've ever had. The chocolate dessert with olive oil was also very nice. I was expecting the decoration to be white chocolate but was instead quite taste less. The service was very good and the best wine suggestions I have had on this trip to Budapest.

Hubby had black spaghetti (he was not a fan) with shrimp (good, but stayed as prawns but more of a medium size shrimp in US). Salads and drinks excellent. They fit us in at 5:30 but reservation recommended. Lovely atmosphere.
